Dog Bite

Sorry. Its been way too long.

So, on July 16th I was bitten on the leg by a dog.

Bad. Like an attack. Ouch. Bled like a stuck pig.

Lots of shots and antibiotics over the next 30 days to follow.

Much better now.

Except for the new fear of dogs.

And bruises and scars.

Sucks.

I like cats much more now.

  1. Not a good experience, especially when not expecting one..
Hope you get more trusting of good doggies. Like people there are good and better, and real bad....

  3. Ouch - bummer that! My wife was bit by a dog and has the same reaction as you now (to dogs). All still we have had a couple over the years - but this does not change her general fear of strange dogs - Sad really.

  4. I love dogs. But I have learned to be wary both south and north of the border. Most bad behavior is owner-caused. But that does not matter when the teeth are sunk in the calf.

  6. That is absolutely awful Chrissy! So sorry. I was bitten once by a Seattle Seahawk's German shepherd. The dog snuck up from behind and got me right above the elbow. Fortunately, I didn't have any complications from it. Glad you're better. Take care!

  7. Thanks Everyone.

I am feeling much better now that I am off all the heavy antibiotics.

I still love the doggies, but I think that I will always be a bit more cautious now.

P.S. a cat I am pet sitting for bit me a few days ago...geez, cant a girl get a break?

  9. Oh my! I got a scare once from dogs that left me forever leery of big dogs. Ironically, I was living in Mexico at the time. Take care.

  10. I am so sorry about that darling. There are some dogs that scare the bejesus out of me. There is this 1 house with 2 HUGE German shepherds that I just know if they ever got past that little gate would mall my kids and it is petrifying.

I have taught my kids that if they want to touch a dog- especially here in Mexico- that they 1st need to ask me, 2nd need to ask the owner and 3- need to ask the dog.

They have been told on more then 1 occasion that the dog does not like to be touched. A good lesson because touching a dog that does not want to be touched will get you a very unhappy response.

But remember that there are many wonderful dogs.
