A few more photos of the Lion cut.

If he looks big it is because he is. 22 pounds, but that is up from his normal 20. Maybe now that I can see his body line better, I will monitor his food intake a bit. Both boys get low calorie food, but I think they just eat more of it.
Burford is our 25 pounder. He is not over weight, he is just big boy. He is ignoring Gordy in this photo. His normal behavior towards anything that is not food related. Gordy is looking over at the bunny nest. Mommy bunny moved the babies on Sunday after Gordy hauled one up for me to look at. It was alive and did not look injured. I put him back in the hole.

I took him out into the sun to get a better shot. He is so used to staying in the shade because of his long hair, he wouldn't stand still.

  1. 25 pound cats. That is Jiggs's nightmare. Several years ago, he ran into a mountain lion in eastern Oregon. He has treated cats with far more respect since then.

  2. Hi Steve,
I dont know how they got so big. They are about a year apart, from different litters and were rescue kittens. Sometimes they are our nightmare as well. 45 pounds of cats in a queen size bed with a 6'1husband and me makes for some restless nights. Did the lion chase Jiggs or did he chase the lion?

  3. Jiggs spotted the lion in the night, and came scampering int the Escape. He hid behind me. He is smarter than I thought.

  4. Good grief! His head looks bigger than yours in that photo (just foreshortening, right?)

  5. yep, he is a big boy. I thik the photo makes him look bigger. This was taken after his hir cut. With the shorter hair on his body, his head looks really large.

  6. Chrissy, these cats are absolutely divine. I just learned about the lion cuts from boating friends who have this done every year. Did they revolt the first time. I'm wondering if we should do something for Teddy but he seems to be tolerating things well though it will get much hotter. I think a black border collie for you would be great. By the way, my hair turned out great, I had it done at a salon and they use something with no peroxide and it's beautiful. Can't believe it. It's a spa here called chocolate. would love to hear more about caborca> When will you be back. We would love for you to look at pool plans.

  7. Hi Jan:
We have only shaved Gordy, Burford has short hair and is very meticulous about bathing. Gordy never bathes. Yes, the first time we had it done, he was very scared and embarassed. He peed and pooped all over the technician. Now that he has had it done several times, she doesnt even tie him down. He just lays there and purrs while she does it. I think he knows how much better he feels afterwords. I would guess that Teddy might like it for the summer. Most folks here in the desert shave their dogs if they have any amount of long hair.
